“I began the 12 week group course not knowing quite what it would offer me but knowing I wanted a way to get healthy and hopefully to lose weight. I’d now describe it as life coaching with a heavy weighting of health. It helps you change how you eat, think about food and allows you time to take stock of your life. Setting goals at the beginning made me really focus in on what I wanted to achieve.
There was no need to be daunted either as Abby is very skilled at drawing goals and reasons out of you. Abby set realistic challenges each week which built up over the 12 weeks. There was never a challenge or activity that I couldn’t fit into what I consider is a busy lifestyle. Over time these build up but instead of feeling like I was getting busier the things Abby was teaching me were becoming more natural. Abby offers the right amount of encouragement and challenge to make you accountable and support achievements and question any obstacles that come up.
Having finished the programme 1 stone lighter, I have more energy and feel good about myself. I am convinced that this programme is more value than any gym membership where you promise you will go and then manage to excuse yourself each day.
Manageable steps and a changed mind-set have given me the tools to continue this pattern. By the end of the programme I knew I wanted this accountability to continue and so I have booked my first monthly meeting with Abby as I am on my way to losing another stone without having to try too hard. Having smashed my goals from 12 weeks ago I am in the right frame of mind to continue and I don’t want to step backwards. I could try to go it alone and see what happens but the past 12 weeks have made me believe firmly that health coaching isn’t the airy fairy technique I once thought but a real tool to support mind and body.
I would definitely recommend this programme for anyone looking to lose weight and increase their energy levels in an easy, supportive way.
